I am a North Carolina native with a love for dance. I have always been moved by music and have felt the need to move along with it. One day I was searching for something to add variety to my workout and stumbled across Kamilah’s class at my gym. Her amazing movement and fun spirit inspired me to take on the challenge of learning Raks Shakri. I quickly was humbled by the difficulty yet determined to learn and still have fun. I have come to love the evolving styles of this dance. Every movement is a celebration of life, whether we dance for ourselves or others. As a performer there is always the challenge of winning over the crowd. Most first look on in doubt and it is a challenge to win them over and eventually their energy is pushing you forward. I take pleasure in this very much of artistically introducing myself and enticing a new audience to enjoy this portion of my journey. My grandmother & mother gave me the love of creating garments. I have also come to enjoy designing and creating costumes. Many of the costumes I perform in are my own creations. This is my focus, but I have a strong love of Hip Hop, salsa, bachata & meringue. Often in my everyday life I am the one the group who can not but help to move if music playing. One day I hope to take a trip to learn samba in Brazil.
